So today i went to church in Charleston. It was the 9am service and even though 1.5 cups of coffee had been consumed I was still dragging. After getting Neema all checked in at children's church I arrived into the service and the worship had already begun. There was a miniature band on stage, think Buckhead Church but a lot smaller, and a good crowd of people. As the words came up on the screen and the band rocked on, in my own lack of passion I simply looked at this room full of people singing about a God of infinite strength and mercy yet it just didn't seem all that moving. When we are singing about the Everlasting God how he will reign forever and He is our strong deliverer....it felt like just words. Then I started thinking about my life and how I want my life to be about Jesus and how He be who people think of when they hear my name. I want to sing those lyrics and mean them from the bottom of my soul! I want those words in these songs and the words in scripture to resonate in all of my being. All of these are true...too good to be true and not to be taken for granted! As I stood there all of these thoughts swirling in my head I just couldn't help but wonder what does God see when he looks at my heart....so complacent and lukewarm. But he's so patient and so loving and after this reminder and refresher I was able to look into who He really is today. The closing song was Mighty To Save:

Saviour
He can move the mountains
My God is mighty to save
He is mighty to save
Forever
Author of salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave

I could not help but think of Neema. And how He has saved her. Both of her parents, and her two sisters have all passed away from HIV but Neema was miraculously spared of this same condition. I can tangibly look at my child on a daily basis and say that my Jesus is Mighty to Save! And that is something worth shouting about! We have a risen King and he is saving us daily. I am thankful because He is Mighty to Save us no matter what is going on in our lives.

Charleston

This Spring my dad took a job in Charleston, SC so he has been coming home to be with us around every other weekend. However, last week we went to visit him for a few days! I'll write about it more later but for now enjoy some pics!
